Five-minute baguette pizza with melted cheese, sausage slices, tomato and fresh basil

Ingredients

  • 1 large baguette (about 300 g / 10.5 oz)
  • 150 g (5.3 oz) shredded hard cheese
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) sausage or hot dogs, sliced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) fresh mozzarella, torn
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • a handful of fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Slice the top off the baguette and hollow out the crumb slightly to make a boat for the filling.
  2. Spread ketchup inside, then layer the shredded cheese, sausage slices, tomato and mozzarella. Sprinkle with Italian herbs.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C (350 F) for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese melts and bubbles.
  4. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve hot.

Tips

  • Hollow out the baguette gently so you don’t tear the crust — a sturdy boat keeps the filling inside. A quick kitchen guide can help you master the technique.
  • Customize the filling with whatever you have on hand — pepperoni, mushrooms or sweet peppers all work great. For another tortilla-based option, see our Tortilla Pizza with Tuna and Eggs.
  • Serve immediately while the cheese is bubbly — this baguette pizza is best fresh from the oven.
