Some dinners practically cook themselves, and this is one of them. Juicy browned chicken thighs nestle into fluffy bulgur and simmer in a rich cream sauce with sweet onion, carrot and garlic until everything is tender and silky. Ingredients
- 800 g (1.8 lb) chicken thighs
- 250 g (1 1/3 cups) bulgur
- 500 ml (2 cups) cream
- 150 g (5 oz) onion
- 150 g (5 oz) carrot
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Brown the meat until golden and set aside.
- In the same oil, saute the onion for a few minutes, add the carrot, and saute a few minutes more.
- Add the garlic, salt, and pepper; stir and simmer a couple of minutes. Sprinkle the bulgur over the top and lay the chicken over it.
- Pour in the cream and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.
Tips
- Get a deep golden sear on the chicken thighs first — that browning is where most of the flavor comes from.
- Keep the heat low once the cream goes in so the sauce stays silky and never splits.
