Ingredients
For the dough:
- 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 100 g (7 tbsp) cold butter
- 50 ml (3 tbsp + 1 tsp) ice water
- Pinch of salt
For the orange filling:
- 2 oranges
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- Pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon
Instructions
- Mix the flour, sugar, and salt; rub in the cold butter to crumbs. Add ice water a little at a time and knead into a dough. Chill.
- Blitz the oranges (peel on), stir in the sugar and cornstarch, and rest 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
- Oil the pan. Roll out two-thirds of the dough thinly and line the pan. Spread the orange filling and weave a lattice from the remaining dough.
- Bake at 180C (350F) until golden and set.
Tips
- Choose oranges with thin, unblemished peels for the smoothest, least bitter filling.
- Chill the woven lattice for 10 minutes before baking so the pattern holds its shape. For more citrus baking ideas, browse the recipes at Allrecipes.
- Serve the pie slightly warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of plain yogurt.
