Ingredients

For layer 1:

  • 500 ml (2 cups) cream (10%)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 30 g (3 tbsp) corn starch
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar

For layer 2:

  • 200 g (7 oz) strawberries
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 50 ml (3 tbsp) water
  • 15 g (1.5 tbsp) corn starch

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan combine the sugar, corn starch and vanilla sugar. Pour in the cream and place over heat. Stirring constantly, cook until the mass thickens. Remove from heat, cool slightly and pour into glasses. Let cool, then refrigerate 2 hours.
  2. Place the sliced strawberries in a saucepan, add the sugar, bring to a boil and cook 3-5 minutes.
  3. Dissolve the corn starch in the water. Pour it in a thin stream into the boiling berries, stirring actively. The mass will thicken – remove from heat immediately and cool to warm.
  4. Spoon over the cream layer and refrigerate 2 hours.

Tips

  • Stir the cream layer constantly so it thickens smoothly without lumps.
  • Let the strawberry layer cool to warm, not hot, so the layers stay neat.
