This chocolate coconut nice cream tastes like a rich, creamy dessert, yet it is made from just bananas, dates, coconut milk and cocoa. It is naturally dairy-free, no-bake and wonderfully refreshing on a warm day. If you love frozen banana treats, try our Strawberry Banana Nice Cream or Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream next.

Ingredients
- 5 ripe bananas (overripe works best)
- 15 dates, pitted
- 1 can (400 ml) coconut milk
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
Instructions
- Break the bananas into chunks, bag them, and freeze for 4 hours (skip if your blender is powerful — it will just take longer to set later).
- Blend the frozen bananas with the coconut milk, pitted dates, and cocoa until completely smooth.
- Transfer to a container and freeze 5-6 hours or overnight.
- Let soften a few minutes at room temperature before scooping.
Tips
- Use very ripe, spotty bananas for the sweetest, most ice-cream-like flavor.
- If the blend stalls, add a splash of coconut milk and tamp it down — patience gives the smoothest texture. Find more frozen dessert ideas on Allrecipes and Serious Eats.
- For a fancier scoop, top with toasted coconut or a drizzle of melted chocolate.
