Golden Viennese waffles stacked with berries and syrup

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g (1/2 cup) sugar
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) milk
  • 10 g (2 tsp) baking powder
  • 100 g (7 tbsp) butter, melted
  • 200 g (1 2/3 cups) flour
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs with the sugar, add the melted butter and milk, and mix.
  2. Add all dry ingredients and mix on low speed until smooth.
  3. Bake in a hot waffle iron until golden and crisp.

Tips

  • Preheat the waffle iron fully before adding batter — a properly hot iron is what makes the edges crisp.
  • Mix the batter on low speed just until smooth; overmixing develops gluten and makes the waffles tough.
  • Keep finished waffles warm in a low oven while you bake the rest, and serve with our Sweet Cottage Cheese Waffles on the side for inspiration; Allrecipes has plenty of topping ideas.
