Soft lavash sheets wrap a savory minced meat filling, then everything is baked under a creamy egg, sour cream and cheese topping until golden and bubbling. It is an easy, crowd-pleasing dinner that tastes like a homemade pie with a fraction of the work. Ingredients
- 2 large lavash sheets
- 500 g (1.1 lb) ground meat
- 1 onion, minced
- Salt and favorite spices
- For the topping: 2 eggs, 3-4 tbsp sour cream, 80 g grated cheese, salt
Instructions
- Mix the minced onion into the ground meat with salt and spices; spread over the lavash sheets.
- Roll each into a log and cut into portions. Arrange in a baking dish.
- Whisk the topping ingredients (keep some cheese aside) and pour over the rolls.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35-40 minutes; sprinkle with the remaining cheese 10 minutes before done.
Tips
- Spread the meat in a thin, even layer so the rolls bake through and hold together when sliced.
- Let the pie rest for 10 minutes after baking — it slices much more neatly once the topping sets.
- Season the meat generously and taste the topping before pouring. For ground meat safety guidance, see usda.gov, and for more baked dinner ideas visit allrecipes.com.
