Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g (1 1/4 cups) sugar
  • 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) milk
  • 230 ml (1 cup) vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (+ 2-3 tbsp milk)
  • 350-400 g (2 3/4-3 1/4 cups) flour
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar. Add the milk and oil and stir.
  2. Gradually add the flour and baking powder — the batter should not be too thick.
  3. Split the batter in two. Sift the cocoa into one half with 2-3 tbsp milk; both batters should end up the same consistency.
  4. Line the pan with parchment and spoon the batters alternately, a tablespoon at a time, one on top of the other. Swirl the top with a skewer and bake at 170 C (340 F) for 50-55 minutes. Don’t open the oven for the first 20 minutes.
