Warm, crisp-edged flatbreads loaded with golden spiced chicken and a cool, punchy garlic sauce — this shawarma-style wrap tastes like your favorite street food, made right in your own kitchen. Lightly crushed red onions with fresh herbs and juicy tomatoes keep every bite fresh and bright.
It is a high-protein, satisfying dinner that comes together in about 25 minutes, which is why it fits right in with our other quick favorites like honey-garlic glazed chicken breasts and chicken thighs in creamy garlic sauce.

Ingredients
- 500 g (1.1 lb) chicken breast
- 1 red onion
- Fresh herbs (parsley and cilantro), a handful
- 2 tomatoes
- 4 large tortillas or flatbreads
For the sauce:
- 50 g (3 tbsp) sour cream
- 50 g (3 tbsp) mayonnaise
- Fresh herbs, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
For the chicken seasoning:
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp sweet smoked paprika
- Your favorite chicken spices, to taste
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breast into strips and sear over high heat with the spices until golden and crisp.
- Cut the red onion into half-rings, toss with the chopped herbs, and crush lightly with your hands so the onion soaks up the juices and aroma.
- For the sauce, mix the sour cream and mayonnaise in equal parts and stir in the herbs and garlic.
- Generously spread the sauce over each flatbread.
- Top with the hot chicken, the marinated onion and herbs, and the fresh tomatoes.
- Roll the wrap up tightly and toast it on both sides until crisp and golden.
Tips
- Sear the chicken in a single layer without moving it for the first couple of minutes — that is what builds the deep golden crust.
- Warm the flatbreads in a dry skillet before filling so they roll without cracking.
- Make the sauce up to a day ahead; the garlic flavor gets even better as it rests. Keep leftovers refrigerated — usda.gov has handy guidance on safe food storage.
