Few appetizers disappear faster than a whole wheel of Camembert baked until gloriously gooey. Garlic-rubbed baguette slices crisp around the cheese, soaking up every melted bite, while herbes de Provence add a fragrant finish. It is effortless party food — and just as good for a cozy night in.

Ingredients
- 1 wheel of Camembert (about 250 g / 9 oz)
- 1 baguette or loaf of bread
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2-3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp herbes de Provence
Instructions
- Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
- Place the Camembert in the center and score the top rind.
- Slice the baguette, rub the slices with pressed garlic, and arrange them around the cheese.
- Drizzle everything with olive oil and sprinkle with herbes de Provence.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 C (400 F) for 12-15 minutes.
- If the top of the Camembert is still sealed, cut it off like a lid to reveal the melted cheese inside.
Tips
- Score the rind lightly so the cheese melts evenly without collapsing.
- Do not overbake — the Camembert should be molten and gooey, not runny.
- Serve immediately with extra bread, while the cheese is at its most scoopable.
