Ingredients
- 180 g (6 oz) block cottage cheese
- 100 g (3.5 oz) hard cheese, grated
- 1 egg
- 100 g (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
- Green onion and fresh herbs, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Mash the cottage cheese with a fork until smooth. Add the grated cheese, egg and salt; mix well, then stir in the flour and knead into a dough.
- On a floured surface, flatten the dough by hand into a round the size of your skillet and cut into portions.
- Fry in a preheated oiled skillet until golden brown on both sides. Serve with sour cream or your favorite sauce.
Tips
- Keep the heat at medium so the flatbreads turn golden without burning while the cheese melts inside.
- For extra flavor, fold the chopped herbs right into the dough and serve with a dollop of sour cream, as recommended in guides at Allrecipes.
- Leftovers reheat well in a dry skillet, which keeps the edges crisp.
