These chicken and cheese fritters are golden, juicy, and packed with protein – a brilliant way to turn simple chicken breast into a dinner the whole family will ask for again. Blended smooth with onion, sour cream, and egg, then studded with grated cheese, they fry up crisp outside and tender inside. Pair them with our Chicken Parmigiana with Mozzarella for a chicken-lover’s week, or try Healthy Baked Chebureki with Chicken and Cheese for a baked twist.

Ingredients
- 400 g (14 oz) chicken breast fillet
- 1 onion
- 120 g (1/2 cup) sour cream (15%)
- 70 g (2.5 oz) hard cheese, grated
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tbsp flour
- Salt, to taste
- Spices and fresh herbs, to taste
Instructions
- Blend the chicken breast with the onion, sour cream, and egg until smooth.
- Stir in the flour and the grated cheese.
- Fry small fritters in a little vegetable oil for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip, cover with a lid, and cook 3-4 more minutes until done.
- Serve with a sauce, vegetables, or any side dish you like.
Tips
- Blend the mixture until completely smooth for fritters that hold together – a food processor works best. Serious Eats has excellent guidance on getting pan-fried patties to hold their shape.
- Keep the heat at medium and use just a little oil; too-hot oil browns the outside before the inside cooks through. Allrecipes offers solid pan-frying basics.
- Serve with a garlicky yogurt sauce and a side of Chicken and Potato Parchment Boats for a complete dinner.
