Crunchy, salty, and dangerously snackable, these puffed pasta chips turn plain pasta into a crispy homemade snack. They are a fun alternative to store-bought chips — serve them with dips like you would our Crispy Roasted Cauliflower Bites, or toss them into the Tuna Pasta Salad with Avocado and Ricotta for extra crunch.
Ingredients
- 150 g (5.3 oz) short pasta (fusilli or penne)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Boil the pasta until just past al dente; drain and pat dry.
- Toss with the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
- Air-fry or bake at 200C (400F) for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway, until puffed and crispy.
- Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Tips
- Dry the pasta thoroughly after boiling — surface moisture is the enemy of crispness.
- Shake the basket halfway through so every chip crisps evenly. For more snack technique ideas, Serious Eats is a great resource.
- Season while the chips are still hot so the spices stick; try ranch or chili-lime variations — Allrecipes has plenty of seasoning inspiration.
