Soft, golden, and oozing with melted cheese, these cheese flatbreads with green onion are the kind of snack that never lasts long. A simple yogurt dough bakes up pillowy and crisp at the edges, with a savory cheese center in every bite. They work as a snack, a side dish, or a quick lunch — and if you love cheesy doughs, check out our Skillet Cheese Flatbreads with Suluguni and Baked Kefir Pirozhki.
Ingredients
- 250 g (2 cups) flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 120 g (1/2 cup) plain yogurt (or sour cream)
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) milk
- 150 g (5 oz) suluguni cheese, grated
- Green onions, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten, for brushing
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients (except the egg wash) into a soft dough, roll into a round about 1 cm thick, and cut into triangles.
- Place on a baking sheet, brush with the beaten egg, and bake at 180 C (350 F) for about 25 minutes until golden.
Tips
- Do not overwork the dough — mix just until it comes together for the softest flatbreads. For a refresher on quick doughs, see the baking guides on allrecipes.com.
- Try them alongside our Cottage Cheese and Cheese Buns for a full cheese-bread spread.
- Best eaten warm from the oven, when the cheese center is still gooey.
