Oven-baked stuffed peppers with melted cheese and tomato sauce

Ingredients

  • 3-4 bell peppers
  • 500 g (1.1 lb) ground meat
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • Spices, salt, ground coriander, smoked paprika, to taste
  • For the sauce: 200 ml (3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) water
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground meat with the chopped tomatoes, onions, and spices.
  2. Hollow out the peppers and stuff them with the filling.
  3. Place in a baking dish and pour over the sauce.
  4. Bake at 180C (350F) for 20-25 minutes; after 20 minutes, sprinkle with cheese and bake 5 minutes more.

Tips

  • Choose peppers that sit flat so they stay upright and fill evenly in the baking dish.
  • Do not overpack the filling; it expands slightly as it cooks and should stay tender, not dense.
