Roasted cabbage steaks topped with sliced marinated chicken, tomatoes and herbs

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • Sweet paprika, oil, salt, pepper, garlic
  • Chicken drumsticks or other parts
  • Ketchup, dried herbs (basil)

Instructions

  1. Cut the cabbage into 2 cm steaks (thicker works too).
  2. Season both sides: salt, pepper, garlic.
  3. Add sweet paprika on top and brush with oil.
  4. Marinate the chicken in ketchup with salt and dried herbs (any marinade works).
  5. Place the chicken on the cabbage steaks and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45 minutes (judge by the chicken).

Tips

  • Cut the steaks evenly so they roast at the same rate, and brush generously with oil for crisp, golden edges.
  • Check that the chicken is cooked through before serving, and rest the pan briefly so the juices settle. For more one-pan dinner ideas, see Allrecipes.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon or fresh herbs at the end for brightness, and serve straight from the pan.
