These cabbage steaks with marinated chicken are a brilliant one-pan dinner: sweet, caramelized cabbage topped with juicy, herb-kissed chicken. It is hearty, budget-friendly and mostly hands-off once it goes into the oven. For more chicken dinners, try our Chicken with Mushrooms and Roasted Potatoes and Chicken and Vegetable Pot Pies.

Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage
- Sweet paprika, oil, salt, pepper, garlic
- Chicken drumsticks or other parts
- Ketchup, dried herbs (basil)
Instructions
- Cut the cabbage into 2 cm steaks (thicker works too).
- Season both sides: salt, pepper, garlic.
- Add sweet paprika on top and brush with oil.
- Marinate the chicken in ketchup with salt and dried herbs (any marinade works).
- Place the chicken on the cabbage steaks and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45 minutes (judge by the chicken).
Tips
- Cut the steaks evenly so they roast at the same rate, and brush generously with oil for crisp, golden edges.
- Check that the chicken is cooked through before serving, and rest the pan briefly so the juices settle. For more one-pan dinner ideas, see Allrecipes.
- Add a squeeze of lemon or fresh herbs at the end for brightness, and serve straight from the pan.
