Golden cheese-stuffed cutlets with baked quail eggs, served on a plate

Ingredients

  • 450 g ground meat
  • 100 g cheese, grated
  • 1 onion
  • Fresh herbs
  • Salt and spices to taste
  • Quail eggs (1 per cutlet)

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and fry lightly in vegetable oil.
  2. Mix the fried onion into the ground meat with the grated cheese, herbs, salt, and spices. Knead well and slap the mixture against the bowl a few times.
  3. Form cutlets and press a well into the center of each, sized for a quail egg.
  4. Fry 3 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish, crack a quail egg into each well, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes.

Tips

  • Slap the meat mixture against the bowl a few times — it helps the cutlets hold together. Allrecipes has plenty of tips for shaping perfect patties.
  • Make the wells deep enough that the quail egg sits snugly and does not spill over.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, a fresh salad or pickled vegetables.
