Ingredients

  • 8-9 potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 1 egg
  • 2-3 tbsp flour
  • 700 g (1.5 lb) boneless chicken
  • Salt, pepper, coriander, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sour cream, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Dice the chicken and fry with one onion and the spices.
  2. Grate the potatoes and the second onion finely; mix with the egg, flour, and spices.
  3. Stir the fried chicken into the potato mixture.
  4. Transfer to an oiled baking dish.
  5. Bake at 200C (400F) for 50-60 minutes.
  6. After 30 minutes, brush the top with sour cream.

Tips

Grate the potatoes finely and mix them with the egg right away so they don’t darken. Brush the top generously with sour cream after 30 minutes for a beautifully golden crust — fans of our Mastava beef and rice soup know a golden finish makes everything better.
