Ingredients
- 500 g (1.1 lb) cabbage, shredded
- 500 g (1.1 lb) chicken fillet
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 onion, chopped
- 200 ml (3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) tomato sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the fillet into strips and sear in oil; season with salt and pepper.
- Add the grated carrot and chopped onion; fry about 5 minutes.
- Add the shredded cabbage and salt; stew on low heat until the cabbage is fully tender, about 20 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and simmer 5 more minutes.
Tips
- Shred the cabbage thinly and evenly so it softens in about 20 minutes without getting mushy.
- Season the chicken well before searing — a good brown crust adds the deepest flavor to the stew.
