Ingredients
- 300 g (10 oz) chicken breast
- 8-10 medium potatoes
- 2 onions
- 300 g (about 4 cups) mushrooms
- 250 ml (1 cup) cream
- 250 g (2 1/2 cups) hard cheese, grated
- 100 g (7 tbsp) butter
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes, drain, add the butter and salt, and mash.
- Chop the onion, mushrooms, and chicken. Saute the mushrooms; after 5 minutes add the chicken, then the onion; season. When the meat is done, pour in the cream and simmer a couple of minutes until lightly thickened.
- Spread all the mash in a baking dish, top with the mushroom-chicken mixture, shower with cheese, and bake 10 minutes for a golden crust.
Tips
- Mash the potatoes while they are still hot for the smoothest, fluffiest base.
- Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before slicing so the creamy layers hold together.
