Ingredients
- 500 g (1.1 lb) yeast-free puff pastry
- 200 g (7 oz) ham, sliced
- 150 g (5 oz) cheese, sliced
- 1 egg beaten with a splash of cream, for brushing
Instructions
- Roll out the pastry, layer the ham and cheese, cover with a second sheet and cut into triangles.
- Roll each triangle into a croissant shape and brush with the egg-cream mixture. Bake at 190-200°C (375-400°F) for 20 minutes.
Tips
- Keep the pastry cold until you roll it so it puffs up beautifully in the oven, and do not stretch the triangles too thin.
- For a richer finish, sprinkle a little extra grated cheese on top before baking — and for another quick morning bake, try our banana oat pancakes.
- These croissants reheat well in the oven for a few minutes; see Allrecipes for more puff pastry breakfast ideas.
