Ingredients

  • 2 lemons
  • 300 g (10.5 oz) frozen mixed berries
  • 1.5-2 L (6-8 cups) water
  • Ice cubes
  • Sugar, honey or sweetener to taste
  • Mint and lemon slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Zest the lemons (yellow part only) and squeeze out the juice. Dilute with a little water and strain through a sieve.
  2. Blend the berries with a splash of water and strain.
  3. Combine the lemon mixture and berry puree, sweeten to taste, add ice and top up with water. Serve with mint and lemon slices.

Tips

  • Zest only the yellow part of the lemon peel — the white pith can taste bitter.
  • Strain both mixtures for a smooth, clear lemonade, or skip straining the berries for a thicker, pulpier drink.
  • Taste as you sweeten, since frozen berries vary in sweetness; inspiration for fresh fruit drinks can be found at Allrecipes.
