Shrimp pasta in creamy Tom Yum sauce topped with grated cheese in a skillet

Ingredients

  • 250 g (9 oz) pasta of your choice
  • 300 g (10.5 oz) mushrooms
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 300 g (10.5 oz) peeled shrimp
  • 1 tbsp Tom Yum paste
  • 2 ladles of pasta cooking water
  • 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) cream (20%)
  • 150 g (5 oz) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 50 g (1.75 oz) cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to package directions; reserve the cooking water before draining.
  2. In a skillet with a little oil, saute the garlic and mushrooms until the liquid evaporates.
  3. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Tom Yum paste, pour in the reserved pasta water, and mix well.
  5. Add the cream, bring to a gentle boil, then remove from the heat.
  6. Toss in the pasta and cherry tomatoes, and serve topped with grated cheese.

Tips

  • Reserve the pasta water — its starch helps the creamy sauce cling to every strand.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp; 1–2 minutes is enough before they turn rubbery.
  • Add the cream over gentle heat and bring it just to a soft boil to keep the sauce silky. If you love creamy pasta bakes, don’t miss our creamy one-pan chicken and mushroom pasta.
