Korean-style beef salad with thinly sliced beef, fresh herbs, and sesame seeds

Ingredients

  • 600 g (1.3 lb) beef
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Chili pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly and boil 3-4 minutes in boiling water. Chop the herbs finely; mince the garlic and chili.
  2. Transfer the meat to a deep bowl; pour over the soy and oyster sauces; add the herbs, garlic, and chili; then pour sizzling hot oil over everything. Toss well. Marinate or eat right away.
  3. Plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Tips

  • Slice the beef as thinly as possible; partially freezing it first makes even slicing much easier.
  • Pour the oil when it is really hot, but carefully, so the herbs and garlic bloom without burning.
