Ingredients
- 250 g (1/2 lb) puff pastry, thawed
- 150 g (5 oz) ham, finely chopped
- 150 g (1 1/2 cups) grated cheese
- 1.5 tbsp sour cream
- 1 tsp tomato paste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg yolk, for brushing
Instructions
- For the sauce, mix the sour cream, tomato paste, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out the pastry, spread with sauce, and scatter over the ham and cheese.
- Roll up tightly and slice into 1-1.5 cm rounds.
- Arrange on a baking sheet, brush with egg yolk, and bake at 180-200°C (350-400°F) for about 20 minutes.
Tips
- Keep the pastry cold until baking so the swirls puff up tall and flaky.
- Use a sharp knife and a gentle sawing motion for clean, even rounds.
- Do not overcrowd the baking sheet — leave room for the swirls to expand.
