Ingredients

  • 200 g (7 oz) chocolate (milk, dark, or a mix)
  • 115 g (8 tbsp) butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 60 g (1/2 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 30 g (1/4 cup) cocoa powder
  • Pinch of vanillin
  • Pinch of salt
  • 150 g (3/4 cup) white sugar
  • 90 g (1/2 cup) brown sugar
  • 80 g (2/3 cup) nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Chop the chocolate, add the butter, and melt in a double boiler. Stir smooth.
  2. In another bowl, combine both sugars and beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing after each.
  3. Sift in the flour and cocoa; add the vanillin and salt. Mix.
  4. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  5. Spread in a lined pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180C (350F) for 35-40 minutes.
  6. The center will look soft and underdone – that is correct. Do not overbake or it will dry out.
