Ingredients
- 200 g (14 tbsp) butter, softened
- 150 g (3/4 cup) sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla sugar
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml (3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) milk
- 300 g (2 1/2 cups) flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla.
- Beat in the eggs and milk.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder and mix into a smooth batter.
- Lightly oil the waffle iron and cook each waffle about 3 minutes.
Tips
- Use soft, not melted, butter so the batter stays thick and the waffles bake up fluffy.
- Do not overmix once the flour goes in; a few small lumps are fine and keep the crumb tender.
- Keep finished waffles crisp on a rack in a warm oven while you cook the rest, and see waffle tips at Allrecipes.
