Honey-mustard chicken drumsticks roasted until sticky and golden

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks (about 1 kg / 2.2 lb)
  • 3 tbsp runny honey
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp mustard
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp sweet ground paprika
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat the drumsticks dry; remove any remaining pin feathers. Season with salt.
  2. Whisk together the honey, lemon juice, mustard, oil, garlic, and paprika to make the marinade.
  3. Toss the drumsticks in the marinade until fully coated. Leave at room temperature for 1 hour (or longer in the fridge).
  4. Arrange in a baking dish and roast at 200 C (400 F) for 35-40 minutes, turning once, until sticky, golden, and cooked through.
  5. Spoon the pan juices over the drumsticks and serve hot.

Tips

  • Pat the drumsticks very dry before marinating so the glaze clings and browns instead of steaming.
  • Line the dish with foil or parchment for easy cleanup, as the honey glaze can stick as it caramelizes.
  • Check that the juices run clear and the thickest part is cooked through before serving. For more chicken cooking inspiration, visit Allrecipes.
