Recipe infographic: One-Pan Quick Pasta with Tomatoes and Cheese — ingredients and step-by-step visual guide

This one-pan quick pasta is the weeknight dinner you will reach for again and again: everything cooks together in a single pan, the tomatoes melt into a rich sauce, and a shower of melted cheese finishes it off. It is fast, comforting and wonderfully simple, and if you love easy pasta nights, try this Classic Pasta Bolognese or this Creamy Mushroom Pasta with Parmesan next.

A pan of one-pan quick pasta with tomatoes, melted cheese and fresh parsley, ready to serve

Ingredients

  • 200 g (7 oz) spaghetti
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 1 sprig thyme
  • Olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • Tomato bolognese sauce, to taste
  • 100 g (about 1 cup) grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Place the spaghetti, garlic, tomatoes, parsley, thyme, onion, and bolognese sauce in a deep pan. Pour over 2 cups (about 400 ml) water — add enough so the pasta edges are covered.
  2. Cook until the pasta is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Stir in the cheese and serve.

Tips

  • Stir halfway through cooking so the pasta cooks evenly and does not stick.
  • Add the cheese off the heat and toss until it melts into a silky sauce.
  • Finish with extra fresh parsley and a drizzle of good olive oil before serving.
