Ingredients
- 180 g (3/4 cup) dry cottage cheese or quark
- 2 tbsp flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
- 1/3 tsp salt
- A pinch of vanilla extract (optional)
- A few squares of chocolate
- 1 ripe banana
Instructions
- Mash the cottage cheese with the egg, sugar, salt, vanilla, and flour into a smooth, even dough.
- Slice the banana into rounds.
- Take a heaped tablespoon of dough, dust with flour, place a banana round in the center, and wrap the dough around it — don’t overwork it, so the banana stays centered. Shape neatly with a knife.
- Pan-fry over medium-low heat in a little oil until evenly golden on both sides.
- When the second side starts to brown, place a chocolate square on each syrnik, cover with a lid, and melt on low heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Tips
- Use dry cottage cheese or press out excess moisture so the dough shapes easily and does not spread in the pan.
- Keep the heat medium-low: syrniki should turn golden slowly while the banana inside warms through.
- Dust your hands and the work surface lightly with flour, and handle the dough gently to keep the banana centered. For more breakfast inspiration, visit Allrecipes.
